  3. Maaaaaaa’am! 😀

    1. my fave topic – circulatory system
    2. what misconceptions were corrected – that the cardiac muscle in the heart needs electrical impulses from the brain to start beating
    3. concepts applied – to be more careful about what i put in my mouth (no double meanings intended), considering that the second line of defense doesn’t always eliminate pathogens that enter a person’s body
    4. comments – more lab activites (if disection is included, can it be something that has just died? cutting up stuff that was alive 5 minutes ago disturbs me :-&), movies and interactive stuff (maybe we can put a camera inside one of our classmates? XD)

  4. Hi Ma’am.. 😀
    1. What was your favorite topic this quarter?
–> The immune system. I especially like cell lysis and the antibodies.
    2. Which misconceptions were corrected?
–> That the red and blood cells originate from the pluripotent stem cell. I actually thought that they were just named because they kinda look alike. Apparently, i could be wrong about that too. I forgot.
    3. What questions do you have regarding the topics discussed?
–>See #2. Do red and white blood cells look alike? As I remember, it was discussed but I lost the notes for that.
    4. What concepts were you able to apply?
–>um…none yet. I’m too busy doing the lab rep. 😛
    5. Do you have any comments or suggestions?
    –>none

  5. My favorite topic this quarter was the circulatory system, especially about the structure of the red blood cell.
The misconception about hemoglobin was corrected, because at first, I thought that iron that exists in the blood was pure iron. Now I know that hemoglobin is a hydrocarbon with an iron center.
I have no more questions except the composition of hemoglobin which was answered already.
Concepts to apply? Hmmm… None yet, but someday, there will be at least one to apply.
Uhh… May I suggest to have more class activities, like the one in the immune system?

Hemoglobin, if you replace all the carbon part ti iron, the whole thing will become blacker (whatta term), thus turning to EMOGLOBIN!!! (joke yun ha… tawa naman kayo…)

  6. 1. What was your favorite topic this quarter?
The immune system. Especially specific response. I liked the immune system the most because it was process-related and not structure-based. :3
    2. Which misconceptions were corrected?
That antibodies actually act to destroy, when all they do is actually bog down and prepare the infected cell for death by T-cell. c:<
I used to think that the blood went straight to the lungs after being used up, and then only would it go to the heart. ._.
    3. What questions do you have regarding the topics discussed?
How does AIDS work to kill, exactly?
    4. What concepts were you able to apply?
Uhm, none so far. Maybe for the lab rep I’ll be trying to do in a bit. ._.
    5. Do you have any comments or suggestions?
    ma’am.. 55/60 kaya nag-lyse. T_T

sorry kung late ma’am.. delete the previous one nga pala x.x

  7. 1. What was your favorite topic this quarter?
    The circulatory system. 😀

    2. Which misconceptions were corrected?
I thought that infected cells will only be cured. I never thought that they somehow commit “seppuku” to defend the body.

    3. What questions do you have regarding the topics discussed?
How come the pig’s heart is extremely similar to that of a human heart?

    4. What concepts were you able to apply?
Dissection of a pig’s heart! :D:D:D It helped me A LOT to prepare for the exams and all those blah, so it’s a shame for me to miss 2-LT1. D:

    5. Do you have any comments or suggestions?
More dissections and lab activities. :D:D:D. I think these can help the students learn the concepts more because of actual contact. Structure and function relationships, in my opinion, would be best described through dissections, while concepts may be directly imparted through lab activities. And, yeah, they are really enjoyable. :D:D:D

  8. favorite topic?
    – the immune system. 😀 never knew that the immune system worked that way. very enlightening. i learned a lot about it in class. 🙂

    misconceptions corrected?
    – that interstitial fluid is NOT spelled as interstatial :D; that fish did not have the same double circulation as humans; that clots were not formed only by simple attaching of platelets, still aided by proteins such as fibrinogen and prothrombin; that blood had the same pressure as it passes through capillaries.

    questions?
    – what might happen if the lymphatic system failed to function properly?

    concepts applied?
    – i get injected with flu shots. vaccines are important because they stimulate the immune system, making it ready for possible infection/sickness of the body.

    comments or suggestions?
    – i think i would like flat tops better than recitation balls. :))

  9. What was your favorite topic this quarter?
    1. The immune system–2nd line of defense
    Which misconceptions were corrected?
    2. I had no misconceptions
What questions do you have regarding the topics discussed?
    3.I have no concepts.
What concepts were you able to apply?
    4. Now I know what blood type I’m compatible with so I can prevent health risks regarding uch.
Do you have any comments or suggestions?
    5. uh…more games??
