  1. 1. What was your favorite topic this quarter?
My favorite topic was regarding the nervous system, particuarly the lessons about the human NS.

    2. Which misconceptions were corrected?
    A lot. πŸ˜€

    3. What questions do you have regarding the topics discussed?
None. They were brilliantly explained. πŸ˜€

    4. What concepts were you able to apply?
In real life? I was able to understand the sleep patterns of my parents even more. Hormones. πŸ˜„

    5. Do you have any comments or suggestions?
I want to see Ma’am Crisologo still teaching (fine, kahit hindi Bio3) in Pisay next year. Pleaaaaase. πŸ˜€

  2. What was your favorite topic this quarter?

-quite a few… however, they all more or less invlove mechanisms.

    a. the actin-myosin binding for muscle contraction
    b. the action potential for neurons, including synapses
    c. receptor mechanisms; EM, pressure for sound, chemo – UMAMI!,…
    d. hormones, receptors, and the ‘chain reactions / regulation mechanisms’

    Which misconceptions were corrected?

not to sound mayabang, but when by age of 9, you already have more or less a hunch on the role of Ca ions for the sliding-filament theory, you won’t quite have misconceptions… xp, but I did however think that ligaments connected muscle to bone, not tendon.

What questions do you have regarding the topics discussed?

Happily, this quarter, most, if not all of my questions were answered. EXCEPT FOR how exactly our brain creates the ‘perception’ of the world, through an image. How does it map it? Does it work like a TV… with pixels? but in uber HD, and multicolored and not just RGB?

What concepts were you able to apply?

Last xmas break, I totally ruined my sleep cycle. This took a toll on my 24-hour cortisol cycle, my circadian rhythm, and these on my overall well-being. I experienced fatigue, as well as a weak immunity. I also researched on “beating the game” with instant REM sleep, in 2 hour naps, drugs like melatonin to induce drowsiness, as well as exposing yourself to more morning light as soon as you wake up.

Do you have any comments or suggestions?

Biology 2 was just an amazing experience with my teacher, the amazing, ms. dawn… And, well, now I can say, if all else fails, medicine, or at least basic anatomy, histology, and conceptual bio won’t be so much of a hassle…

    ❀ ya! πŸ˜„

  3. What was your favorite topic this quarter?
the nervous system. and how the brain works. πŸ™‚

    Which misconceptions were corrected?
its not exactly a misconception but i was enlightened on how muscles contract and how meticulous the process can be. also, i now know how my brain processes stuff. i never really thought of the details before bio2. πŸ™‚

What questions do you have regarding the topics discussed?
nothing important really. i just wonder why it is possible to die of nightmares. :))

What concepts were you able to apply?
cramps! aaand. the other functions of the cerebral cortex. if i use them in conversations i would sound so intellectual. (and boring. :))

Do you have any comments or suggestions?
im gonna miss bio2!!! inspired me and im amazed that millions of things are now happening inside me without me even realizing it. πŸ˜›

  4. 1. What was your favorite topic this quarter?

My favorite topic would have to be the animal hormones topic. It gave me insights on how exactly my body reacts to things i do. I also like the topic of drugs and how they affect our bodies, and how they mimic neurotransmitters in altering our behavior. This latter interest was sparked by my House obsession, as I’m actually able to relate to the Vicodin addiction that he has. :))

    2. Which misconceptions were corrected?

To have a misconception, you have to have a previous notion about a certain object. However, stupid me knew nothing about the topics discussed during the quarter, and whatever little i knew seemed correct. So technically i have no misconceptions. Though initially i was confused with plant hormones making the cells NOT exposed to light grow longer than those that are. Until now actually, I am confused. 😦

    3. What questions do you have regarding the topics discussed?

Connected to my aforementioned misconception, I still don’t get why plant cells grow longer when not exposed to light. Also, I don’t get why the roots that were exposed to IAA in the plant experiment grew less than those exposed to water, considering IAA, or auxins in general, contribute to plant root growth. Come to think of it, plant hormones are confusing. :/

    4. What concepts were you able to apply?

I now know why i still don’t grow taller even if I have 12 hours of sleep during weekends. The circadian rhythm of the body detects day/night, and not hours of sleep, therefore, since i sleep from 2am-2pm, my body finds it awkward that i am awake at night and not at day. This too explains why call center agents are more likely to have weaker immune systems.

    5. Do you have any comments or suggestions?

I do find it sad that the whole reproductive system topic was crammed in a day. Would’ve been a fun topic, though. πŸ™‚

One more thing, i really, really want ma’am dawn to be my Bio-3 teacher. πŸ™‚

  5. 1. What was your favorite topic this quarter?

The discussion of the transmission of signals in the nervous system. It’s fun to think about; ironically, I disliked the discussions on the brain.

    2. Which misconceptions were corrected?

EVERYTHING about muscles and EVERYTHING about the brain. How the hell did I get through grade school science >_<

    3. What questions do you have regarding the topics discussed?

I don’t get the brain. :c Or the reproductive process. (Not that I’ll ever *want* to think about what happens to sperm, but yeah.)

    4. What concepts were you able to apply?

I was able to apply a lot of things. I now have a greater appreciation of coffee and the hormones that keep me awake. Seriously. ~_~

    5. Do you have any comments or suggestions?

I really dislike the practice of the unit (and of Pisay in general) that tries to pack, what, 5 topics into a quarter? And they say *we* cram.

Oh, and Ma’am Dawn should handle fourth year sections next year, because nobody deserves appreciates needs her like we do. Kahit STR2. :p

  6. 1. What was your favorite topic this quarter?

Umm.. Muscular System? Because its easy to understand.

    2. Which misconceptions were corrected?

None, because i didn’t knew anything before.

    3. What questions do you have regarding the topics discussed?

None, it was very clear to me. Even though i didn’t get a perfect score in the periodic exam.

    4. What concepts were you able to apply?

None yet. I won’t take drugs anymore!!! There is no cure to drug addiction.

    5. Do you have any comments or suggestions?

umm. more activities like before and do the discussion a little faster next time so we won’t have to cram all the topics.

  7. 1. What was your favorite topic this quarter?

    Nervous System… excited e.. nkakanervous =))

  14. What was your favorite topic this quarter?
    – Nervous System.

The brain amazes me because it is the only organ that can study itself. Cool eh?

    Which misconceptions were corrected?
    – I thought muscles move because they elongate/shorten when we move. I never knew they slid past each other..hehe..

What questions do you have regarding the topics discussed?
    – Which part of the brain is responsible for our intuitions or what we call ‘kutob’?

What concepts were you able to apply?
    – The role of K and Na in our body. I had K-deficiency, and I found it hard to move my legs and my hands were shaking from time to time.

Because of what I know about the roles of K and Na, I was able to understand and do something about my so-called disease..hehe..

Do you have any comments or suggestions?
    – A little bird told me you’ll still be in Pisay next year, so…See you in Bio 3?? πŸ˜€

  15. 1. What was your favorite topic this quarter?
    – My fave topic was the sliding filament theory. πŸ˜€ actin and myosin are fun. πŸ˜›

    2. What misconceptions were corrected?
    – Hmm… I’d probably have to say the function of the ganglia. πŸ˜€ no, ma’am, I haven’t (and refuse to be) been delmo-fied. :)) because what was written in the book was that they were merely supporting cells in the NS, when in simpler organisms, the ganglia functioned as the “brain”.

    3. What questions do you have regarding the topics discussed?
    – What causes sperm to have abnormalities? sometimes they have two tails or heads that are larger than usual , so I was wondering, what caused it?

    4. What concepts were you able to apply?
    – What caused cramps. Now I know why I get cramps when swimming. :))

    5. Do you have any comments or suggestions?
    – Be mean-er to the next batches. Wahahahaha. >:)

    2. What misconceptions were corrected?
    Nope..

    3. What questions do you have regarding the topics discussed?
    Nope..

    4. What concepts were you able to apply?

    3. What questions do you have regarding the topics discussed?
    -Can’t think of anything ma’am. @_@

    4. What concepts were you able to apply?
-The memory thing. That I should repeat information over and over again in my head so I could remember it better. And the drugs part. I would know which drugs to use when…oops..err.. That I shouldn’t use and/or abuse illegal drugs because it would damage my nervous system greatly. ^^

    5. Do you have any comments or suggestions?
-You rock ma’am!!! Thanks for teaching us so much and so well ma’am. You made Bio 2 a memorable subject for me, and perhaps for the others too. Keep it up. ^^

don’t fully understand why they don’t but I have a pretty good idea.

    3. What questions do you have regarding the topics discussed?
Why do we think. Not how but why. Why do we have to have more complex brains than other

animals. Why do we need to think to live instead of just simply reacting instinctively. The human brain is a complex

thing but do we really need ALL of it to just live?

    4. What concepts were you able to apply?
I was able to determine that I have a slight red-green color deficiency when I took the test for color

    blindness.
